Jameis Winston Expecting To Be Hit With Suspension
7 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is expecting to be suspended by the NFL for an alleged incident from March of 2016 in which he groped an Uber driver in Arizona, according to ESPN Tallahassee radio host Jeff Cameron. “The thought from the Winston camp is that would be a maximum of three games. I do not know at this time whether or not they plan to appeal, and I do not know that three games is an accurate number. I’ve been told that would seem to be the maximum number of games that the suspension could be. It’s also likely that it’s less than that and it’s one game," Cameron said. Winston hasn't been charged in the incident, but that won't necessarily stop the league from handing down a suspension. The 24-year-old had a mostly disappointing season in 2017 and didn't reach the 4,000-yard mark for the first time in his career while also throwing a career-low 19 touchdowns, although he also missed three games due to injury. A three-game suspension would obviously be a big hit to his fantasy value, but you'll have to stay tuned for more details on this situation. If Winston begins the year suspended, Ryan Fitzpatrick would likely fill in as the starter to open the season.
