Taking on the Tampa Bay Rays, it was reigning NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton who drilled the first home run of the game, a shot to left field that increased the lead to three runs. Although his struggles have been largely criticized, the 28-year-old now stands alone in second place on the club, while tied for sixth-most in the major leagues. Gary Sanchez, who’s struggled mightily as well, drilled a home run in the ensuing at-bat, making it consecutive blasts for New York.--RDelgado
