Giancarlo Stanton Hits First Of Consecutive Home Runs
6 years agoWith Luis Severino absolutely dealing on the mound and two runs in, two of the New York Yankees’ power bats added insurance in the fifth inning of Saturday’s matchup. Taking on the Tampa Bay Rays, it was reigning NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton who drilled the first home run of the game, a shot to left field that increased the lead to three runs. Although his struggles have been largely criticized, the 28-year-old now stands alone in second place on the club, while tied for sixth-most in the major leagues. Gary Sanchez, who’s struggled mightily as well, drilled a home run in the ensuing at-bat, making it consecutive blasts for New York.
