Manuel Margot Picking Up The Pace
6 years agoAfter an abysmal start to the 2018 campaign, San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot could be turning a corner. Margot had hovered around the Mendoza Line all season but since May 23 is 15-for-47 (.319) and is currently riding a five-game hitting streak, raising his average from .189 to .223. Unfortunately for Margot, he's dropped to the bottom of the order and has accumulated minimal counting stats. His power numbers are also way down this season (one homer) and he's been inefficient on the basepaths (6-for-11). Margot is still a centerpiece for San Diego's future and perhaps the better plate appearances will set him on the right track mentally and mechanically. A popular 20/20 candidate this offseason, Margot has fallen off the fantasy radar. His current value could be a bargain, but he's just a deep bench stash until he contributes across multiple categories.
