Eric Hosmer Goes Yard, Stays Hot Sunday
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Sunday against the Miami Marlins. The dinger was Hosmer's eighth of the season and he now holds a .292/.375/.479 slash with 30 RBI, 33 runs and three steals. Hosmer's counting stats have lagged this season but he's still supplying a respectable average and on-base skills. He tied for the National League doubles lead with 19. Since his average bottomed on May 28 at .256, Hosmer is 20-for-45 (.444) in his last 12 games. If owners have a power source elsewhere in their lineups, Hosmer should remain a consistent mid-tier first baseman throughout the season.
