Kelvin Herrera Works Scoreless Inning
7 years agoSince it had been five days, the Kansas City Royals gave closer Kelvin Herrera an inning of work even though the team was losing by three runs on Thursday. Herrera kept his walkless streak intact, and that is now 23 2/3 innings without recording a single walk this season. He also struck out one, so he's now sitting at 20 strikeouts on the year. Though the team is terrible, Herrera has successfully closed 13 of the games, totaling a save in 61.9 percent of the team's wins this year. If he was doing that for a 90-win team, he'd be looking at a 55-save season. Unfortunately, KC's looking more like a 55-win team, so he's more likely to finish with around 30 to 35 saves if all goes well.
