Carlos Correa Not In Lineup Thursday
7 years agoHouston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa (side) will get the night off Thursday when the Astros open up a series with the Rangers. Marwin Gonzalez will start in the All-Star's place after Correa left Wednesday night's game with discomfort in his right side. He appears to be day-to-day and this is a perfect opportunity for manager A.J. Hinch to play the matchups against expected Rangers starter Cole Hamels. Correa has struggled mightily against Hamels in his career, going 2-for-21 (.095) lifetime with seven strikeouts against the left-hander. The injury is not considered serious at this time, and Correa will hope to be back in the lineup for the weekend. On the season, Correa is slashing .264/.348/.464 with 10 home runs, 14 doubles, 36 runs scored and 39 runs batted in.
