Tony Kemp's Three-Hit Night Bolsters Average
7 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Tony Kemp went 3-for-4 with a double in the Astros 7-5 win on Wednesday. The three-hit night bounced Kemp's batting average from .261 to .300 in one single night. The diminutive speedster has impressed in the limited opportunities he's received, slashing .300/.390/.420 in 50 at-bats with six runs scored and nine runs driven in. He has played well enough to this point that the team made the decision to send down J.D. Davis and keep Kemp when Josh Reddick was ready to come off the disabled list. The outfield in Houston is too crowded to expect Kemp to see consistent playing time right now, but he is a valuable rotation piece moving forward. Expect him to be on the bench Thursday when the Astros face Rangers left-hander Cole Hamels.
