Jon Jay Continues To Rake In Leadoff Spot
7 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Jon Jay smacked three more hits on Monday night, giving him base hits in 15 of his last 16 games. Since retaking the regular leadoff role on May 5, Jay has hit safely in 23 of 24 games where he’s hit in that slot, and he’s scored at least one run in 10 of his last 11 games. He even hit his first home run of the season from the leadoff position. Jay is hitting .375 over the course of the 24 games with eight extra-base hits, 18 runs scored, 11 RBI and two stolen bases. For those who could use a batting average boost with some runs and a couple other counting stats, Jay is about the best that can be found right now.
