Rory McIlroy Surges Over The Weekend
7 years agoAfter narrowly missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament, Rory McIlroy surged over the weekend with rounds of 64 and 69 to an eventual eighth-place finish. Facing the prospect of missing his second straight cut, McIlroy used three back-nine birdies on Friday to make weekend play on the number. McIlroy will head to Shinnecock Hills in two weeks, the site of this year's U.S. Open, where he is currently the second betting favorite. If he can avoid the one bad round that has plagued him most of the season, he will have a chance to win his fifth major and second U.S. Open title.

Rory McIlroy Looks To Reverse Recent History At TPC Sawgrass
2 weeks agoSince his victory in 2019, Rory McIlroy has not had the greatest of times at the Stadium Course. Putting has been the main concern during that time, as he lost a combined -13.28 strokes on the greens between 2021 and 2023. That has luckily been a strong point of emphasis for the 35-year-old this season, as he has ranked inside the top 10 in strokes gained putting in two of four events. Given that he averaged -0.28 strokes gained on approach at Bay Hill, the iron play is perhaps the largest question mark heading into Thursday. Still, McIlroy is a weekly asset and should warrant any consideration DFS players are willing to give him.

Rory McIlroy Returns To Action For Arnold Palmer Invitational
4 weeks agoRory McIlroy finished tied for 17th at the Genesis Invitational last month and is now focusing on preparing for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which takes place this week at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club. This will be McIlroy's third PGA Tour event of the year, and he has played well so far in 2025, including a victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Historically, McIlroy has fared well at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, finishing tied for 21st in 2024 and tied for second in 2023. He could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

Rory McIlroy In Dominant Form Ahead Of Genesis Invitational
2 months agoRory McIlroy is arguably enjoying one of the best stretches of golf in his illustrious career. Since his T9 at the Tour Championship to close out last season, The 35-year-old Northern Irishman has racked up six finishes inside of the top-10 in his last seven starts, including two runner-up finishes and two outright victories. Most recently, the OWGR No. 1 cruised to a two-shot victory over his good friend Shane Lowry at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, gaining over seven strokes from tee-to-green and over three and a half strokes putting. He could be in line for another top-10 showing at the Genesis Invitational, as he ranks first in driving distance, fourth in total driving, 13th on approach, first in birdie-or-better percentage, and ninth in bogey avoidance over the last 36 rounds, while also boasting the second-best course history at Torrey Pines. Fantasy managers should not be surprised if McIlroy finds himself in contention for back-to-back Tour victories come Sunday evening.

Rory McIlroy In Line For First PGA Tour Start Of 2025
2 months agoRory McIlroy will make his first PGA Tour appearance of the 2025 season at this week's ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am. His only other start this year has been on the DP World Tour at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he finished tied for fourth. In last year's ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McIlroy finished in 66th place. It's important to note that over the past 12 months, McIlroy ranks in the 72nd percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is significant because more than 26% of approach shots during last year's event came from this distance. Considering this is McIlroy's first PGA Tour start of the season, he is worth considering for DFS lineups, although including him does come with some risk.
