Ryan Weathers Selected by Padres With Seventh Pick
7 years agoThe San Diego Padres have selected Ryan Weathers with the seventh pick in the MLB amateur draft. Weathers, a left-handed pitcher, is coming straight out of high school and is the Gatorade National Player of the Year. It is the third straight year the Padres have selected a pitcher in the top 10. Weathers is very athletic. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he is committed to Vanderbilt University, where he could have played baseball and basketball. On top of that his father, David Weathers, was a pitcher in the majors for a long time and his mother played basketball at Belmont University. Weathers sits 90-92 mph with his fastball with a high spin rate and possesses multiple quality offspeed pitches.
