We only have four games to choose from in the DraftKings main slate (7:10pm EST start time). The NYY/DET matchup will be Game 2 of a doubleheader. They are projected to score the most runs on Monday (5.6 implied run total).
While the Yankees are strong favorites (-200), the Angels are a close second (-190). The other contests (ATL/SD and ARI/SF) are virtual coin tosses. The NYY/DET game is the only one with an over/under of nine total runs, or more. It should be no surprise that we’ll find most of our hitters from that game, with a heavy emphasis on the Bronx Bombers.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Nick Tropeano, LAA (vs. KC) - $8,300
The Angels are the second-largest favorite on the night (-185), trailing only the Yankees (-190). However, the KC/LAA matchup has an over/under of 8.5 runs, while the NYY/DET game has an over/under of 10 total runs. Tropeano has allowed three earned runs, or less, in four of the past five appearances and has struck out at least five batters in back-to-back starts. He faced the Royals on April 12th: 6.2 IP, 0 ER, and 6 K. Kansas City is 23rd in team wOBA (.308) and 28th in team ISO (.129) against right-handed pitchers this season.
Danny Duffy, KC (@ LAA) - $4,700
“Wait, didn’t you JUST recommend the opposing pitcher?” Yes. I did. We only have eight pitchers to choose from and Zack Godley isn’t worth $10,200 (*cue perfect game*). My goal for Monday is to add as many Yankee hitters into my lineup as possible. That means I need to make budget cuts to my pitchers. Duffy is serviceable enough to contribute to your DK points and cheap enough to help select expensive options on the offensive side. Duffy has allowed only one run in each of the last two starts and has struck out at lesat four batters in three straight games.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
C - Kurt Suzuki, ATL (@ SD) - $3,600
It may surprise some to see that Suzuki leads the Braves with a .368 ISO against left-handed pitchers. He’s also 7-for-18 (.389) with two doubles and one home run in the past week. When we get a ISO above .200, and a hot bat, we do not hesitate to add that player into our DK lineup.
1B - Paul Goldschmidt, ARI (@ SF) - $4,800
Goldy is starting to find his swing for 2018. He’s 6-for-19 (.316) with two home runs in the past week and Goldschmidt gets a lefty on the hill for Monday. He has an Arizona-best .326 ISO against southpaws since 2017. While AT&T Park is considered a pitcher-friendly facility, Goldschmidt owns a career .316 AVG, with 11 home runs, in 62 games (225 AB) at San Francisco.
2B - Gleyber Torres, NYY (@ DET) - $4,900
As I mentioned in Duffy’s write-up, we want all the Yankee bats we can handle on Monday. They own a slate-high 5.6 implied run total. Torres is batting .286 (6-for-21) with two doubles in the past seven days. He also owns the second-highest ISO on the Yankees against right-handed pitchers (.287), behind only Judge (more on him later).
3B - Johan Camargo, ATL (@ SD) - $3,300
Like his teammate, Suzuki, Camargo is swinging a hot bat. He’s only 7-for-27 (.259) in the past week, but he’s hit three home runs in the last seven days. Camargo has a .248 ISO against left-handed pitchers.
SS - Nick Ahmed, ARI (@ SF) - $3,200
The second-highest ISO against left-handed pitchers for the Diamondbacks belongs to Ahmed. This season, Ahmed has a .276 AVG against lefties (.168 AVG against righties). He’s collected a total of three hits in the past two games, with one double and one stolen base.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Mike Trout, LAA (vs. KC) - $6,000
So, we saved all of our allotted DFS salary for the outfield. Trout went ohfer on Sunday, but I expect him to bounce-back on Monday. He’s 9-for-29 (.310) with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs (two walks) in the past week. Trout is also a career 5-for-12 (.417) with one double and one home run against Danny Duffy.
Aaron Judge, NYY (@ DET) - $5,800
Another expensive outfielder, but we can afford it. Judge leads the Yankees with a .353 ISO against right-handed pitchers. He’s batting .292 with two doubles and two home runs (three walks) in the past week. Judge has also jolted four extra-base hits in the past four games (six total hits).
Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (@ DET) - $5,100
The modern-day Murderers’ Row continues for our Monday Yankees stack. Stanton is batting .298, with six doubles and six home runs, away on the road this season. He went yard on Saturday, too (in Baltimore). Now, he travels to Detroit to face Mike Fiers in the late game. Fiers is allowing righties to bat .285 against him this season. He’s also allowed a combined nine earned runs in the the past three outings (16.1 innings).
