Matt Koch Shuts Down Marlins
7 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starter Matt Koch (4-3) was brilliant on Sunday, shutting out the Marlins over seven innings while giving up just three hits and striking out six. It was by far Koch's best start of the season, and a nice bounce back effort after allowing five runs to the Reds in his last start. The six strikeouts represented a season a season high for Koch, who now holds a 3.76 ERA. Koch will need to compete with the resurgent Clay Buchholz for a rotation spot when Robbie Ray returns from the DL. His next start will be Saturday in Coloardo, where he should be avoided.
