Chris Archer Solid Versus Seattle Saturday, Left Game
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer pitched well in the loss Saturday versus the Mariners. He went five innings allowing two runs while striking out six but took the loss. Archer then left the game. After the game, it was revealed that he had tightness in his groin. Archer will be evaluated Sunday to see if it turns into anything to be worried about. He has pitched over 200 innings each of the past three seasons and has struck out at least 233 batters in each season. The troubling part is that his ERA has been just over 4.00 the last two seasons and his win-loss record has been 19-31 those two seasons. Speaking of ERA, his 2018 number sits at 4.29, though it had been at 5.64 before his last three outings. He has the upside to be a strong fantasy asset, but the weakness of the Rays will impact his winning potential.
