Sonny Gray Bounces Back In Baltimore
7 years agoStill wildly inconsistent, New York Yankees starter Sonny Gray put forth one of his best starts of the season on Friday night in Baltimore, picking up his fourth victory to match his total losses. The 28-year-old, who was taking on the Orioles, went six strong, surrendering only one run on four hits, with a first-inning home run being the major damage. Gray also struck out six innings, working with his preferred catcher, Austin Romine. This was a particularly pleasing performance considering it came on the heels of his disastrous home start against the Los Angeles Angels. He will look to build on this start when he takes on the Toronto Blue Jays this upcoming Wednesday.

Austin Romine Activated From Restricted List
3 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals activated catcher Austin Romine from the restricted list on Thursday. The Cardinals also optioned outfielder Conner Capel, catcher Ivan Herrera and second baseman Cory Spangenberg to Triple-A Memphis. Romine was unavailable to play in a two-game series in Toronto this week against the Blue Jays because he's unvaccinated. With Yadier Molina (knee) still on the injured list while rehabbing in the minor leagues, Romine will return to serve as Andrew Knizner's backup for a weekend series against the Washington Nationals, which starts on Friday. In nine games for St. Louis, Romine is 3-for-22 with two walks and seven strikeouts.
