Mike Mayers To Start On Wednesday
Mike Mayers will get the start on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be Mayers' first start of the season for the Angels after 18 relief appearances in which he's posted a 5.22 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 27 strikeouts and nine walks in 29 1/3 innings pitched. He's thrown 9 1/3 innings in his last two outings in long relief, so he's stretched out enough to make a spot start this week. Mayers surrendered seven earned runs on 10 hits (four home runs) while walking one and striking out nine in those last two outings, so fantasy managers should be looking elsewhere on Wednesday.

Mike Mayers Has Contract Purchased
Mike Mayers has had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake and will join the team's 40-man roster. The 30-year-old righty was outrighted to the minors back in early June but has now made his way back to the majors. He posted a poor 5.40 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 14:6 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings (15 appearances) earlier this season. He'll add some depth to the Los Angeles bullpen but doesn't offer a whole lot of fantasy value.
