Denard Span Collects His First Hits With New Team
7 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Denard Span has three hits in his last nine at-bats and is hitting .231 since being acquired by the Mariners last week. The veteran outfielder has been brought over to help solve some of the Mariners offensive issues from their outfielders. It also helps fortify the roster if they decide to move Dee Gordon to second base when he returns from the disabled list. Span has an excellent walk-to-strikeout ratio (28:25) this season and has 1,421 hits in his 11-year career. It will take some more time to get him acclimated, but he should be a solid contributor in the weeks to come. Span has a great matchup Thursday and sports a .455 (5-for-11) batting average lifetime against the Rangers probable starter, Mike Minor.
