Kenta Maeda Hits Disabled List With Hip/Groin Strain
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a hip/groin strain that manager Dave Roberts called "benign." Roberts does not know how long Maeda will be out yet. The 30-year-old is enjoying a solid season with a 3.61 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings this season. The expectation is that only one start will be missed, but Maeda will not be rushed back. Keep him stashed everywhere. There is no official word on who will start in Maeda's place, but pitching prospect Dennis Santana, who was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move, is the most likely option. He's pitched well at OKC and Double-A Tulsa this year and could make a start this Saturday at Colorado if he's not used in relief before then. That wouldn't be the most enticing from a streamer perspective, but Santana could have short-term value in deeper leagues if he makes a few starts, depending on the matchups.
