Giancarlo Stanton Sitting Out Monday
7 years agoBeginning another showdown with the Houston Astros after taking three of four in Texas at the beginning of the month, the New York Yankees will be without one of their prized sluggers. Reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton has been given the day off, with Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge and Brett Gardner starting in the outfield. Neil Walker will additionally serve as the designated hitter and bat ninth. The 28-year-old Stanton has again fallen on hard times at the plate, hitting .172 across his last seven games. For the month, however, he has improved following a rough month of April. At the moment, he has 11 home runs, 28 RBI and is batting .246 on the season.
