Willy Adames Called Up
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Willy Adames has been called up to the major leagues. Adames gets the call with Joey Wendle going on the paternity list. Adames will bat fifth in his major league debut, but it looks like this is just a short-term call-up. Adames has hit .311 in Triple-A with four home runs and three steals in 173 plate appearances. However, Adames has limited fantasy value in redraft leagues right now. Firstly, with this likely just a short-term call-up, you could be dropping him again in a few days. Secondly, he does not profile as a huge power or speed player. His season-best numbers in the minors are 11 home runs and 13 stolen bases, which is useful but not amazing. Adames is a player to add in 14-team leagues but probably will not provide enough offense to be fantasy relevant in shallower leagues. He should already be owned in dynasty formats.
