Masahiro Tanaka Picks Up Win Despite Weak Effort
7 years agoWhile he earned a win on Monday night, New York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka was far from effective against the Texas Rangers. After a scoreless first inning, he was given a three-run lead in the second before quickly allowing his first run. After being handed back his three-run lead in the fourth, he coughed it up by allowing his second home run of the night, this one a three-run blast. The 29-year-old would end up tossing five innings and allowing those four runs on three hits and four walks. While the victory improved his season record to 5-2, his ERA has ballooned once again, now at a miserable 4.95 for the season. This was the first of two scheduled starts for Tanaka this week, as he’s lined up to face the Angels in the Bronx on Sunday.
