Wade Davis Locks Down 16th Save
7 years agoColorado Rockies closer Wade Davis has gone through a bit of a rough patch recently, but he was able to work through a jam to get his 16th save of the season on Thursday. Called on in the 12th inning, Davis walked a couple of batters, but he was able to draw a fly out from Gregor Blanco to seal the game. Davis has been solid this season, striking out 10.24 per nine innings and only blowing two out of 18 save chances so far, but his sky-high walk rate of 4.19 per nine innings could lead to some issues. Also, while two blown saves isn’t a huge number, he’s never posted a season where he blew more than three in the entire year. Two this early is a bit concerning.
