Minnesota Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson notched a quality start against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. Gibson spun six innings of two-run ball, striking out six while walking four. Gibson had to settle for a no-decision as his team needed 12 innings to down the Angels. Gibson is pitching well this season, posting a 1-1 record, 3.43 ERA, and 50 strikeouts over eight starts. Gibson has several poor seasons on his big league resume, but he has pitched much better over the past two seasons, which puts him on the fantasy radar as a streamer in mixed leagues and a back-end starter in AL-only formats.--Matt T - RotoBaller

The Baltimore Orioles have designated starting pitcher Kyle Gibson for assignment. Gibson has had a rough start to the campaign. Through his first 12 1/3 innings of work, the veteran right-hander has posted a hefty 16.78 ERA with a 2.92 WHIP. He has tallied just 10 punchouts and served up walks at a high 9.6% rate. In his most recent outing on Saturday against the Washington Nationals, Gibson tallied just two outs and allowed six hits, six runs, and one walk. Last season, the 37-year-old held his own with St. Louis, posting a 4.24 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP across 169 2/3 innings of work. However, given his disappointing start to the 2025 campaign, the struggling Orioles decided to cut ties with him. This could open a path for Charlie Morton or Keegan Akin to return to the rotation.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Gibson (0-1) made his season debut Tuesday night but struggled significantly in the 15-3 loss to the New York Yankees. He allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits, including five home runs, and was pulled before finishing the fourth inning. The Bronx Bombers jumped on the 37-year-old early, launching back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first. His rough outing only adds to the concerns for a Baltimore rotation that has struggled to find consistency early in the season. Gibson will look to rebound in his next scheduled start on Tuesday on the road against the Minnesota Twins.--Julian Brooke - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Gibson (back) will make his 2025 season debut and start on Tuesday at Camden Yards against the division-rival New York Yankees, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Gibson will be cleared to make his season debut against a tough opponent despite dealing with some minor back tightness in his final start in the minor leagues with High-A Aberdeen. After signing with Baltimore late in spring training, the 37-year-old veteran stayed in the minors to build up his arm at the start of the 2025 season. In his three starts with Aberdeen and Triple-A Norfolk, he allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out 13 in 12 innings. Gibson's first start against the Yankees this week won't be the time to jump right in and stream him in fantasy, but he can be an innings-eater and streamer in AL-only leagues now that he has rejoined the O's rotation.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Gibson (back) said he dealt with some back tightness in his last minor-league rehab start with High-A Aberdeen on Sunday, but it's nothing serious and he's still ready to join the big-league rotation in Baltimore. Gibson allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit while walking two and striking out five in five innings of work for Aberdeen on Easter Sunday. In his three rehab outings to this point (two with Triple-A Norfolk), the 37-year-old veteran has given up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out 13 in 12 innings pitched. Although Gibson feels ready to make his 2025 debut in the majors, it's unclear if the Orioles want to see him make one more rehab start in the minors first. Gibson has been durable the last three years, but he won't offer much fantasy upside outside of AL-only formats when he's back with Baltimore.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
