Amed Rosario Picking Things Up A Bit
7 years agoDespite a relatively disappointing debut in late 2017 for New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario, who at one point was ranked as the top prospect in baseball by some publications, the fantasy community had hopes for him in 2018. Not necessarily very high hopes, but hopes nonetheless. Unfortunately Rosario has disappointed greatly thus far in 2018, slashing a poor .248/.278/.330 with zero home runs and only one stolen base. Over the last few days though, he’s starting to show signs of life. He’s picked up hits in five of his last six games, including multi-hit efforts two of them. It may not be much, but if Rosario is starting to adjust to Major League pitching, he’ll be a player to keep an eye on.

Amed Rosario Returning On Saturday
1 month agoWashington Nationals infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario (knee) is returning to the starting nine on Saturday afternoon. Rosario will cover shortstop and bat at the top of the other. Rosario has been battling a minor knee injury during the week but is quickly returning to the starting lineup. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears that this injury was not very serious. Earlier in the offseason, the Nationals signed the 29-year-old to a one-year, $2 million contract. Last season, Rosario spent time with three clubs and held an overall .280/.306/.380 slash line. He tallied 18 doubles and three home runs, He swiped 13 bags and held a 9:73 BB:K ratio. During the regular season, fantasy managers should expect Rosario to be deployed as a depth option in the infield.

Amed Rosario Dealing With Minor Knee Injury
1 month agoWashington Nationals infielder Amed Rosario (knee) was scratched from Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros due to a knee injury. However, Rosario told manager Dave Martinez that he could have played if it was a regular season game. The 29-year-old was just being cautious with two weeks until Opening Day. Cayden Wallace took over for the veteran infielder at second base on Wednesday and hit eighth in the lineup. Since it's a minor injury, Rosario could return as soon as Thursday for the spring game against the Tampa Bay Rays, one of his former teams. He signed a one-year deal with the Nats back in January and is expected to fill a utility infield role for Washington, which will leave him minimal fantasy value in NL-only leagues with basically zero upside. The Dominican infielder played for three teams last year and hit .280 in 103 games, but it came with just three home runs.

Amed Rosario Signs With Nationals
3 months agoFree-agent infielder Amed Rosario signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. At the very least, Rosario should be able to fit in somewhere on the infield in D.C. in 2025 on the weak side of a platoon against left-handed pitchers. The 29-year-old has never been a big power or speed guy, though, so the fantasy value will most likely be limited to NL-only leagues. He appeared with the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds in 2024 and hit a combined .280/.306/.380 with a below-average .686 OPS, three home runs, 32 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 29 runs scored in 103 games played. Most of Rosario's limited value comes from his ability to put bat to ball while excelling against southpaws. Rosario has hit .298/.337/.460 in his career against left-handed pitchers since debuting with the New York Mets in 2017.

Jeimer Candelario Placed On Injured List
8 months agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario (toe) on the injured list on Tuesday with a left-toe fracture and added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster. Candelario is hitting .225/.279/.429 with 20 homers, 56 RBI, and 47 runs scored while adding four stolen bases in 112 games. The Reds added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster after acquiring him off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rosario, who was traded to the Dodgers by the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline, hit a combined .305/.331/.415 with two homers, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Rosario will have some appeal to fantasy managers who need stolen bases as he joins a Reds team that has swiped 168 bags.
