Walker Buehler Called Up To Start Friday
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter and top pitching prospect Walker Buehler has been called up and will start against the Padres in Mexico on Friday. The move was expected, as manager Dave Roberts had already announced that Buehler would take the place of Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) in the rotation. Reliever Edward Paredes was sent down to Triple-A in Buehler's place. Buehler should be up for a while this time. He was sent up and down in order to keep an extra reliever during his first two starts. He's given up two earned runs in 11 innings with 11 strikeouts and four walks. But most of the hits against him have been singles, while the two earned runs were earned in one inning against the Giants, and three of those four walks came in his first outing. He will be a stud and owners should enjoy what could be the beginning of a fine career. Assuming he stays healthy, his price will only go up, so buying now, even with the hype, is well worth it.
