Gary Sanchez’s Clutch Blast Propels Yankees
7 years agoWith the New York Yankees having been stymied all night by Justin Verlander, they entered the ninth inning in Houston on Tuesday with a scoreless tie. Now taking on the Houston Astros bullpen, the first two batters reached scoring position, giving them a golden chance to take the lead. With one away, catcher Gary Sanchez stepped up and delivered a monster blast to center field, a decisive blow that put his team up for good. It was Sanchez’s second home run in three games, both ultimately being the deciding blows. While the 25-year-old is hitting just .214 thus far, he already has eight home runs and 27 RBI.
