Jake Arrieta Roughed Up In Miami
7 years agoAfter a couple of brilliant starts seemed to settle him into his familiar groove, Philadelphia Phillies starter Jake Arrieta was knocked around by the Marlins on Monday. The former Cy Young winner failed to get out of the fourth frame, tossing just 3 2/3 innings and surrendering six runs on eight hits and two walks. The big blows came in the third, as he conceded four runs to the lowly opponents. It was his first defeat of the season, a performance that raised his ERA nearly two runs from 1.82 to 3.49. The 32-year-old’s next start is scheduled for Sunday in a duel against Max Scherzer and the Washington Nationals.
