FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (4/30/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Dan Marcus highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 4/30/18, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Considering Monday is a frequent day off in MLB, we have a pretty full 10 game main slate on FanDuel. Nearly all the pitchers on the slate have accessible prices, which should allow for plenty of big bats in your lineup. Some positive game environments to take advantage of include the Cubs-Rockies matchup as well the Reds-Brewers game. The wind is blowing out in Wrigley Field and there big bats up and down each lineup so that will be the focus on my lineup builds.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 4/30/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Jake Arrieta - SP, @MIA ($8,800)

The Marlins present an enticing combination for opposing right-handed pitchers, as they have the fourth-highest strikeout rate and lowest ISO among major league teams. Meanwhile, Arrieta hasn’t had the strikeout rate to justify his price tag, but pitching in a big park to a bad lineup is an enticing combination. Lock him in for 35 FD points as a floor, making him a decent cash game option.

Eduardo Rodriguez - SP, vs. KC ($7,400)

Rodriguez has been in similar form to Arrieta and also has a desirable matchup as the Royals strike out at a 25% clip against LHP to go along with a bottom third ISO. While Arrieta arguably has a better matchup and park to pitch in, Rodriguez has similar upside at a $1,400 discount.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Jesus Aguilar - 1B, @ CIN ($2,800)

The injury to Eric Thames opens up playing time in Milwaukee, and while Aguilar is still not in the lineup on an everyday basis he should find his way into the lineup regularly. Monday would be a sensible time to get him in the lineup given that left-hander Brandon Finnegan is on the mound for the Reds. Over the last three years, Aguilar has slugged .500 against LHP and has kept that going in 14 2018 at-bats against lefties with a .643 slugging percentage. Two other factors make Aguilar even more appealing -- Great American Ballpark is a hitters haven and his cheap price tag.

Joey Wendle - 2B, @ DET ($3,100)

I can’t say I ever expected to recommend Wendle in any fantasy context heading into the 2018 season, but one month in and here we are. Jordan Zimmermann is a disaster all around, but especially against lefties. With Wilson Ramos potentially out of the lineup, Wendle has the best power upside to take advantage of the matchup as he has posted a .161 ISO over his last 100 PA against right-handed pitchers. At a more macro level, the mid-tier of players at second base isn’t inspiring so unless you’re dead set on paying up for Javier Baez or Jose Altuve, this is a good spot to pay down.

Trevor Story - SS, @CHC ($3,900)

Jon Lester has been solid this season and this pick have less to do with him and more to do with the skillset of Story. Simply put, he mashes left-handed pitching whether he is at home or the road as he posted a .284 ISO on the road against them last season. Winds are expected to be blowing out in Wrigley Field Monday, so there could be plenty of power in that game.

Nolan Arenado - 3B, @CHC ($4,300)

The same arguments for Story can be made for Arenado, as there are few (if any) hitters to point to who hit LHP better than him. Over his last 100 PA, against LHP Arenado has posted a .515 wOBA and .379 ISO. I'll be building my lineup around him for Monday's slate.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Curtis Granderson - OF, @MIN ($3,100)

Lance Lynn has struggled against LHB since his return from Tommy John surgery, surrendering a .463 slugging percentage to them last season and a .654 slugging percentage to them in limited sample this season. Though Target Field deflates left-handed power takes some shine off Granderson, that shouldn’t completely mitigate Granderson’s power. The price tag is reasonable and will help fit in several of the attractive stud bats on this slate.

Albert Almora - OF, @CHC ($2,900)

It’s worth noting anytime Almora is facing a lefty, but Kyle Freeland has struggled mightily against right-handed batters. Over his past 250 right-handed batters faced, he has allowed a .367 wOBA and .195 ISO, numbers that Almora should be able to take advantage of. While Arenado and Story provide high-end exposure to this game, Almora is a cheaper way to still get exposure to one of the better hitting environments of the day.

Also Consider: J.D. Martinez - OF, vs. KC ($4,100)
