Prospect Luis Urias Day-To-Day After Leg Injury
7 years agoSan Diego Padres second base prospect Luis Urias (leg) is day-to-day after exiting Tuesday's Triple-A game. Urias, baseball's No. 2 second base prospect and 36th overall, is slashing .265/.367/.368 with two homers over 17 games in El Paso. At 20 years old, Urias is considered one of the most polished hitters in the Padres system with excellent bat control and solid defense. Since 2014, Urias holds a 1.09 BB/K in the minors. There's a chance he breaks in with the big league club this year. Current Padres second basemen Carlos Asuaje (.216 average) and Cory Spangenberg (.196) haven't done much to secure a long-term job. With only 11 home runs in over 1,600 plate appearances, Urias doesn't offer much power, but a steady average and on-base percentage could help a Friars squad starving for better plate discipline. Stay tuned.
