7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher Jorge Alfaro started Tuesday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, a game they would lose. The 24-year-old went hitless in four plate appearances, striking out three times. Alfaro has had a horrid beginning to what was supposed to be his first full season as a starter, which is putting him on notice. Manager Gabe Kapler continues to give Andrew Knapp an increase in playing time, putting Alfaro’s breakout season in peril. As of April 25, the Colombian native is hitting .170 in 15 games, recording just eight hits while striking out 24 times.--RDelgado
