Sonny Gray Deals With Command Issues In Defeat
7 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Sonny Gray’s rough start to the 2018 season continued on Friday night as he was booed off the mound after his exit. The 28-year-old was handed a two-run lead by his offense in the second inning of Friday’s matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, but he coughed the lead up immediately in the top of the ensuing frame. His offense once again answered the bell, but Gray surrendered three straight hits to kick off the top of the fourth inning and would allow three more runs before manager Aaron Boone pulled him, getting showered with boos as he walked off. After this performance, Gray's ERA ballooned to 8.27 on the year, while his record remains at 1-1.
