Jake Arrieta Masterful In Victory
7 years agoComing off a loss against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Phillies returned home to begin a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night. On the mound was former National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta, making his third start for his new club. The 32-year-old stymied his former division rivals, going seven scoreless innings and conceding just one hit. He walked two and struck out 10, tossing 97 pitches in the winning effort. The performance was more than enough for his offense, which put together seven runs to secure the victory.
