Eric Staal Registers First Two Postseason Points in Game 3 Victory over Jets
7 years agoMinnesota Wild’s top-line center Eric Staal finally managed to register his first two points of the NHL postseason against the Winnipeg Jets at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday night. The Wild had a statement game in which they responded to an 0-2 series deficit with a 6-2 Game 3 home victory. Staal started his night with a power-play assist in the first period and then placed a fantastic wrist shot past Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck in the second period. It was very important for Minnesota to show off their offensive prowess back at home and if anyone is going to help the Wild mount this comeback against the Jets, you would think it would be their top scorer from the regular season. Staal had gone pointless in the first two games of the postseason but he took the league by storm this year and registered a fantastic bounce-back campaign in which he finished with 42 goals and 34 assists (17 power-play points). Look for Staal to do more of the same against the Jets in Game 4 on Tuesday.
