Ryan Suter Leaves A Void For Minnesota Wild
7 years agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter (leg) will miss the postseason due to surgery to correct the fractured fibula he sustained against Dallas on March 31. Suter was the rock for this team, always called on to play the biggest minutes, averaging more than 26 minutes on ice, and he was in the midst of another great season while matching his career high of 51 points. His highly-skilled defensive ability will be sorely missed for the Wild, and now Matt Dumba, Jonas Brodin and Jared Spurgeon will be called on to fill in the hole. The three of them will have to share the load, and Dumba has already taken on more responsibility. Getting more deployment has helped him set a career best this season with 50 points. The Wild's lineups do not feature the best offensive defensemen, but they will be expected to step up if they have a hope of beating the Winnipeg Jets.
