Jorge Alfaro Puts Finishing Touches On Offensive Explosion
7 years agoStill in the early stages of his first full season as starting catcher of the Philadelphia Phillies, Jorge Alfaro is still struggling to find his form at the plate. Entering today’s game against the Miami Marlins, the 24-year-old was hitting just .111, but tonight’s performance could be the turning point that gets him on track. Alfaro picked up a team-high three hits on the day, with his first major action coming in the fourth inning with an RBI single. The game was well in hand at that point, with the Phillies up, 12-1. In the ninth inning, Alfaro drilled a solo home run to right center, scoring Philadelphia’s 20th and final run of the game.
