Sonny Gray’s Quality Start Ends Yankees Skid
7 years agoThe afternoon after a painful loss in which they lost four players to injury and were defeated in 14 innings, the New York Yankees picked up a victory behind Sonny Gray. The right-hander, who only lasted four innings his last time out, went six strong today, surrendering just three runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked two, receiving sufficient run support to earn the victory. The 29-year-old was breezing early, tossing 10 pitches through the first two frames, but dealt with control issues and hits in the middle innings, driving his pitch count up. Regardless, he only tossed 86 pitches through his six innings of work, earning his first victory of the year.
