Patriots In Market For QB
7 years agoThe New England Patriots are firmly in the quarterback market in the first round of this month's 2018 draft and probably aren't close to done making trades. Their Tuesday trade of wide receiver Brandin Cooks was part of a package that included the 23rd overall pick in the first round. There is a strong likelihood that the Patriots use one of their first-round picks to select Tom Brady's eventual replacement. One member of the Patriots organization said he wouldn't be shocked if the team traded up in the first round to select a signal caller. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora thinks New England could be enamored with Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield in the top half of the first round. Brady may still have several good seasons left at the end of his career, but the Pats need to look for his successor now, and Mayfield or one of the other top quarterback prospects could be their guy. Obviously no rookie quarterback would have redraft value as long as Brady is still around, but they'd certainly be attractive dynasty options if they land with head coach Bill Belichick.
