Carey Price Surpasses Jacques Plante For Franchise Record
7 years agoIn Montreal’s overtime loss to Winnipeg Tuesday night, goalie Carey Price set the Canadiens franchise record for games played by a goalie with his 557th career appearance. Price was drafted fifth overall in 2005 and has played his entire 11-year career with the Canadiens. Although this season is one to forget, the 30-year-old has enjoyed a lot of success over the years, making the Eastern Conference Finals twice and winning the Vezina and Hart trophies in the 2014-15 season. The awards may pale in comparison to the commendations Price received in a video tribute from two of the greatest ever to strap on the pads, former Canadiens goaltenders Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy. The Bell Centre gave Price a deserved standing ovation following the tribute. Price should be able to return to form next season, something fantasy owners would surely welcome.
