Ronald Torreyes In, Neil Walker Out Wednesday
7 years agoFor Wednesday’s matinee game at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees will give second baseman Neil Walker the day off. Starting in his place at second base will be Ronald Torreyes, who’ll be making his season debut. The 25-year-old was viewed as one of the favorites to land the starting job at second following the trade of Starlin Castro, but Tyler Wade’s play and the arrival of Walker altered those plans. Torreyes is entering his third season with the Yankees after hitting a career-best .292 in 108 games last season. On Wednesday, he’ll bat ninth as the Yankees go for the series win against the Tampa Bay Rays.
