Ben Lively Has Encouraging Debut In Loss
7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ben Lively finally had his season debut Tuesday at Citi Field after getting snowed out Monday. The 26-year-old, who won the fifth starting spot in the rotation, went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five. Through the first five innings, he was pitching a shutout on four hits, seemingly headed towards a lengthy duel with Matt Harvey. Opening the sixth inning with a hit batter, however, his inning and start unraveled, as both of his runs conceded came at that point. With 91 pitches and two gone in the frame, he was pulled. His offense failed to provide any support, as the Phillies lost 2-0.
