Jacoby Ellsbury Suffers Setback
7 years agoThe New York Yankees injury woes in the outfield were supposed to experience relief at some point soon, but those plans have been scrapped. Veteran outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who was scheduled to be a bench player for the club this season, was supposed to be returning soon from an oblique injury. On Tuesday, however, manager Aaron Boone announced that Ellsbury was being shut down for the present time after suffering a hip-related issue. The 34-year-old has been out since near the beginning of spring training, yet another injury for the ailing veteran. With Aaron Hicks and Clint Frazier out, a return for Ellsbury could’ve meant seeing starting time, but it appears Hicks will return before Ellsbury.
