Jordan Montgomery’s Start Still In Place
7 years agoDespite Monday’s snowstorm and subsequent cancellation of the New York Yankees home opener, the club still plans to throw starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery on Tuesday when the game is played. The 25-year-old could’ve been skipped, but the club will not opt to do so, reinforcing their faith in Montgomery. The left-hander, heading into his second professional season, went 9-7 last year with a 3.88 ERA as a rookie after unexpectedly winning the fifth starting spot. This spring he made five starts, going 2-2 with a 3.43 ERA. Last year, his first start was also against the Tampa Bay Rays, and he gave up just two earned runs while striking out seven batters across 4 2/3 innings.
