Phillies Won’t Name Closer
7 years agoWhen asked about the Philadelphia Phillies options in the ninth inning when the team is in the lead, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said, “We’re going to go with our dudes.” It doesn’t sound like the Phillies will announce a closer, but relievers Hector Neris, Pat Neshek and Luis Garcia would appear to be the likely candidates to start the season in that role. Adam Morgan and Edubray Ramos could also be in the mix. Neris is likely to get the first chance, as he finished 2017 as the team’s closer, but he remains a low-end option until the situation is cleared up.
