Masahiro Tanaka Continues To Defy Injury Heading Into 2018
7 years agoFor the first time in four seasons, the New York Yankees will not send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound on Opening Day. While the 28-year-old has been surpassed by Luis Severino, he comes off a postseason that saw him make three starts and allow just two runs across 20 innings while striking out 18. This spring he wasn’t very effective for the most part, posting a 7.24 ERA in four outings. Regardless, Tanaka continues to be effective despite pitching with a partially torn UCL the past four years. His stock should continue to be high despite the spring struggles, as they usually don’t offer insight into how this season will go down.
