Alex Reyes Placed on the Disabled List to Start the Season
Alex Reyes (elbow) was officially placed on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday. Reyes is almost fully recovered from Tommy John Surgery but just needs a little more time before heading back to a big league mound. He's expected to be ready to return around May 1 but may come back sooner if the Cardinals decide to use him exclusively out of the bullpen. It remains to be seen what role Reyes will fill, but that will determine his fantasy value. He's a hold in most formats for now.

Daniel Hudson Progressing, Alex Reyes Not Throwing Off Mound
Daniel Hudson (ankle, knee) tore his left ACL last June but was expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2023 season. However, he experienced right ankle tendinitis that set him back a few weeks. He's throwing bullpens in camp and is feeling healthy, but it's unclear if he'll be built up by Opening Day. Reliever Alex Reyes (shoulder) is still not throwing off a mound and isn't expected to until at least late March. But the right-hander has been throwing regularly as he recovers from a frayed labrum in his right shoulder, and the hope is that he can help the team by midseason. With no designated closer entering the 2023 season, Hudson could be firmly in the mix for the Dodgers if he's healthy. LA's other options include Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol.

Alex Reyes Joins Dodgers
Alex Reyes has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The All-Star closer signs a one-year deal worth $1.1 million, which includes a $3 million club option for the 2024 season. This contract is loaded with incentives that could make the deal up to $10 million. The 28-year-old missed all of the 2022 season due to a right shoulder injury. The Dodgers are uncertain if Reyes will be ready to pitch at the beginning of the season. Regardless, they believe that Reyes will be able to make an impact in their bullpen this season.

Alex Reyes Needs Surgery
Alex Reyes (shoulder) needs surgery to fix a damaged labrum in his right shoulder, according to sources. Reyes experienced renewed soreness in his shoulder when throwing last week and was shut down indefinitely. The 27-year-old started the regular season on the 60-day injured list, and it now looks like he'll miss the entire 2022 season, although we'll have a better timetable on his recovery after he goes under the knife. At this point, Reyes might even be lucky if he's ready to go in time for next season. It's extremely disappointing after he made his first All-Star team last year when he recorded 29 saves, a 3.24 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP and 95 strikeouts in 72 1/3 relief innings for St. Louis. Giovanny Gallegos will continue to operate as the team's closer this season.

Alex Reyes Shut Down With Shoulder Soreness
Alex Reyes (shoulder) experienced shoulder soreness during his throwing session this past week. As a result, he has been shut down from throwing. Reyes underwent an MRI and the team is currently seeking a second opinion on him. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol stated that this development for Reyes was "very" discouraging. The 27-year-old has yet to make his 2022 debut. He was diagnosed with a frayed labrum prior to the start of the year and had been working his way back. With this recent development, it looks like Reyes could be missing much more time than we originally thought. We expect to have more clarity on Reyes' updated timeline soon.
