J.D. Martinez's Success Is Dependent Upon Mental Preparation
7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder J.D. Martinez says that his success at the plate is attributable more to the mental side than anything else, according to Logan Mullen of NESN.com. Martinez works on his craft daily and not just leading up to the game. He studies his at-bats after the game, as well as what opposing pitchers are doing. Martinez has hit at least .300 in five of the last six seasons. He is also coming off a season hitting 45 home runs with 104 RBI. While his spring stats (.319/.347/.447) might not look impressive, understand that Martinez is just using spring to work on his mechanics and mental preparation.
