A.J. Puk Needs Tommy John Surgery
7 years agoUpdating a previous report, Oakland Athletics pitching prospect A.J. Puk (elbow) was recommended to have Tommy John surgery, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com. Puk sought a second opinion from well-known orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, after receiving news Tuesday that he had ligament issues in his pitching elbow. He would be the second young pitcher for the Athletics to have Tommy John surgery this season if he has the procedure done. It is a big loss for a pitching prospect who was having a great spring and on the verge of making the starting roster. With roughly a 12-14 month recovery period, Puk can be dropped in all redraft leagues.
