Ketel Marte Inks Five-Year Extension With D'Backs
7 years agoArizona Diamondbacks infielder Ketel Marte is officially part of the Diamondbacks future infield after signing a five-year, $24 million extension with the team on Monday. The contract includes two option years worth $22 million, bringing the total possible contract to seven years and $46 million. Marte has settled in as the team's starting second baseman as a part of their renewed emphasis on team defense. Marte played 73 games with Arizona last season, hitting .260 with five home runs and 18 RBI. If he plays a full complement of games, Marte has the skills to hit .280 and steal around 20 bases. Those in deep leagues needing speed in the later rounds can take a flier on Marte now that he has a full-time role in a potent lineup.
