Andrei Vasilevskiy Prevails Over Florida
7 years agoTampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 45 saves in a 6-5 overtime win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. The 23-year-old goaltender continued his impressive performance this season during the match, facing 49 shots from the Panthers’ potent offense. Florida entered the game having won their previous six games, including matches against notable contenders such as Philadelphia, Washington, Toronto, and Pittsburgh. Vasilevskiy and the Lightning appeared to have the game managed through two periods, outscoring Florida 4-2. The Panthers fought their way back, however, scoring twice in the third period to send the match to overtime. Vasilevskiy only needed to make one save in extra time before Brayden Point scored the game-winner. The Russian goaltender has been one of the key elements to Tampa’s success this year, holding a 2.44 goals-against average and .925 save percentage. The Lightning play again on Thursday night against the New York Rangers.
