Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton is dealing with a sprained left index finger, an injury which forced the Reds to scratch him before Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Cleveland Indians. Hamilton picked up the injury while taking batting practice on Tuesday. The injury doesn't appear to be serious, as Hamilton told reporters that his finger is feeling much better on Wednesday and that he expects to return to the lineup as soon as Thursday. Hamilton's return will push veteran outfielder Ben Revere back into a bench role.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Chicago White Sox outfielder Billy Hamilton (hamstring) could begin a minor-league rehab assignment in the next week to 10 days, according to general manager Rick Hahn. Hamilton has been sidelined since May 10 due to a left-hamstring strain, but he could return to the White Sox in early June as long as he doesn't have any setbacks with his hammy on his rehab assignment. The 32-year-old speedster is hitless in just two at-bats for the Pale Hose over three games this year, and he won't be guaranteed a spot on the team's active roster once Chicago deems he's healthy enough to return. Even if Hamilton rejoins the White Sox, he'll continue to serve as a bench player mostly for his speed on the basepaths.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Chicago White Sox will activate shortstop Tim Anderson (knee) and infielder Hanser Alberto (quadriceps) from the injured list on Tuesday, with outfielder Billy Hamilton also getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Infielder Lenyn Sosa will be optioned to Charlotte after hitting .151/.167/.245 in 16 games. Anderson's return will move Elvis Andrus back to second base. Obviously, fantasy managers will want to get Anderson back in their starting lineups immediately, as he is one of the best all-around shortstops in the game. Hamilton is a career .239/.292/.326 hitter with 324 stolen bases, but he had gone just 9-for-48 (.188) with three steals in 11 games on the farm. Hamilton will be a bench option for the Sox with plus speed for those desperate in AL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Chicago White Sox re-signed outfielder Billy Hamilton to a minor-league deal on Saturday that includes a non-roster invite to spring training, according to a source. Hamilton was a contributor on the 2021 American League Central title team. He split the 2022 campaign with the Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins, slashing a combined .050/.136/.050 with 13 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in only 23 plate appearances and 37 games played. The 32-year-old hit .220/.242/.378 in 135 plate appearances for the Pale Hose in 2021 with nine stolen bases. At best, the veteran speedster will be a bench option for Chicago in 2023, but he's highly unlikely to earn regular playing time in the outfield unless injuries hit the White Sox hard.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Miami Marlins signed free-agent outfielder Billy Hamilton to a minor league deal on Tuesday. He will provide the Marlins elite defense and outfield depth but will need to hit in the minors to see at-bats over Jesús Sánchez and Bryan De La Cruz. The 31-year-old slashed .220/.242/.378 with two home runs, 11 RBI, 23 runs, and nine stolen bases over 71 games for the Chicago White Sox in 2021. Hamilton has elite speed and has stolen 30 or more bases five times in his career. Fantasy managers searching for speed in deep-league formats can add Hamilton if he does get called up later in the season.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
