7 years agoNew York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario has been dealing with left knee irritation, but seems to be well on his way to making it back. On Monday, Rosario was out for base-running drills, but wasn’t running just yet. Rosario first suffered the ailment after being hit by a pitch on Saturday and scoring thereafter, feeling something “weird” in his knee after rounding the bases. According to Mets manager Mickey Callaway, Rosario said he could have kept on playing, but the team didn’t want to risk anything. It was probably a smart move for a guy who topped some people’s prospect lists about a year ago. Rosario should be back in the lineup soon.--John Smith

3 weeks agoWashington Nationals infielder Amed Rosario (knee) was scratched from Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros due to a knee injury. However, Rosario told manager Dave Martinez that he could have played if it was a regular season game. The 29-year-old was just being cautious with two weeks until Opening Day. Cayden Wallace took over for the veteran infielder at second base on Wednesday and hit eighth in the lineup. Since it's a minor injury, Rosario could return as soon as Thursday for the spring game against the Tampa Bay Rays, one of his former teams. He signed a one-year deal with the Nats back in January and is expected to fill a utility infield role for Washington, which will leave him minimal fantasy value in NL-only leagues with basically zero upside. The Dominican infielder played for three teams last year and hit .280 in 103 games, but it came with just three home runs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoFree-agent infielder Amed Rosario signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. At the very least, Rosario should be able to fit in somewhere on the infield in D.C. in 2025 on the weak side of a platoon against left-handed pitchers. The 29-year-old has never been a big power or speed guy, though, so the fantasy value will most likely be limited to NL-only leagues. He appeared with the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds in 2024 and hit a combined .280/.306/.380 with a below-average .686 OPS, three home runs, 32 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 29 runs scored in 103 games played. Most of Rosario's limited value comes from his ability to put bat to ball while excelling against southpaws. Rosario has hit .298/.337/.460 in his career against left-handed pitchers since debuting with the New York Mets in 2017.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario (toe) on the injured list on Tuesday with a left-toe fracture and added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster. Candelario is hitting .225/.279/.429 with 20 homers, 56 RBI, and 47 runs scored while adding four stolen bases in 112 games. The Reds added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster after acquiring him off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rosario, who was traded to the Dodgers by the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline, hit a combined .305/.331/.415 with two homers, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Rosario will have some appeal to fantasy managers who need stolen bases as he joins a Reds team that has swiped 168 bags.--Brandon Williams - RotoBaller

7 months agoFormer Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Amed Rosario was designated for assignment this week and will now head to Cincinnati. This was a surprising move as the Dodgers traded for the infielder at the trade deadline but recently let him go when Mookie Betts (hand) returned from the injured list. The veteran infielder has held a solid .305/.331/.415 line with two home runs and 10 stolen bases across 81 games this summer. Fantasy managers should expect Rosario to serve as a depth utility infielder in Cincinnati as Jonathan India, Noelvi Marte, and Elly De La Cruz have second base, shortstop, and third base covered on most nights. Rosario could be worth a look in deeper NL-only formats if he is given consistent playing time, as he should produce a solid AVG with the upside for speed.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
